Base One

Base One is a science and technology hub at North Acton, London, designed to support early-stage and growing science, technology and deep-tech companies.

The 55,000 sq ft building provides ready-to-use laboratories, private offices, hot desks, meeting rooms, flexible event spaces and a public café. Its 24 Containment Level 2 laboratories are aimed particularly at companies working in areas such as life sciences, advanced materials and other technology-intensive fields, providing considerable flexibility.

This complex ‘meanwhile’ project comprised structural separation, extension and partial strip out of the existing building, in order to utilise as much of the existing installation as possible, to deliver the most cost effective solution to provide modern, high quality affordable office and laboratory space for scaling science and technology companies.
